Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Pre-Kindergarten Paraprofessional
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Superintendent and Building Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts; Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids and maintains teacher’s copy requests; Assists in presenting subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role-playing; Assists in preparing, administering, and grading examinations and assignments; Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts; Works with students and teachers to set performance goals; Covers classes and duties such as lunch, playground and bus duties when requested; Submits reports and performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent required and Completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework or Associate’s degree from an institution of higher education or passing score from the state based para-professional test.

Regular attendance following a designated work schedule; must be able to work extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities; must be able to attend and participate in meetings and conferences scheduled.
