Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Job Title: Teacher Position: Kindergarten Teacher
Reports to: Principal Evaluated by: Principal
1. Position Overview: Under the general supervision of a building administrator, performs a variety of
task with major responsibility being instruction and supervision of students. Instruction of student shall
include skill development, the expansion if knowledge and developing the ability to reason.
Responsibilities include supervision, guidance, discipline, and safety of students. The use of
independent judgment and decision making is required in many matters not having established rules,
regulations, policies or precedent.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Identifies the needs of individual students by continuous assessment of their performance and
abilities.
2. Uses identified student needs to plan instruction.
3. Prepares and writes instructional plans.
4. Uses a variety of appropriate methods and materials to implement instructional plans.
5. Organizes and manages classroom to create the optimum learning conditions.
6. Works collaboratively with grade level teams and other colleagues as directed.
7. Applies learning theories to meet the needs of students.
8. Evaluates and reports student progress.
9. Supervises students in and out of the classroom.
10. Initiates, plans, and carries out parent conferences.
11. Initiates and maintains communication with parents and colleagues.
12. Plans and coordinates the activities of educational assistants and other paraprofessionals as assigned.
13. Collaborates successfully with colleagues.

Experience:

License:
1. Current Oregon license with appropriate endorsement in area of assignment
2. Current ODL.
