Full Day Kindergarten Teacher

St. Paul’s Day School in Westfield, New Jersey is seeking a Full Day Kindergarten Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in in the classroom, who is passionate about early childhood education, and is eager to join a team of top-tier teachers. Hours for this position are 8:20 to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. This position follows a school-year calendar from September to June, with approximately 165 school days.

*This position begins in September 2024.

This person is responsible for the general supervision and instruction of a classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education and P-3 or K-6 Teaching Certification (required)
• Master's Degree (preferred)

General Responsibilities:

• Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with school policies; submit weekly lesson plans to the Director
• Assess children’s development and learning using developmentally appropriate tools to measure student progress; share bi-annual progress reports with families
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each child with concern for each child’s interests, abilities, style and pace of learning; know every child’s strengths and needs
• Foster each child’s sense of identity, belonging, and citizenship
• Practice professional ethics in regard to students, parents and staff; treat each child with dignity and respect
• Communicate regularly with classroom families using newsletters, emails, conversations, and individual touch points; conduct bi-annual family conferences
• Arrange the classroom to meet the developmental needs of young children; maintain a clean, orderly and visually appealing classroom environment
• Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities by the entire staff
• Handle confidential medical and emergency response information
• Attend weekly meetings led by the Head Teacher
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Attend and participate in school functions, including Back to School Night
• Arrange substitute coverage when out of school for personal or sick time
• Complete 12 staff development hours annually per State licensing regulations
• Obtain certification in CPR, AED, first aid and EpiPen use
• Attend the Abuse Awareness workshop given by the Episcopal Diocese of NJ
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the staff manual and the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers
