Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    1.  Must possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an Elementary Education and Bilingual/ELL endorsements.

    2.  Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree.

    3.  Must meet federal Highly Qualified requirements.

    4.  Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish required. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

    1.  Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.

    2.  The ability to promote high expectations, demonstrates a caring attitude, and establishes a learning environment that enhances academic achievement for students.

    3.  Be enthusiastic, flexible and have a commitment to student achievements and the Dual Language Program.

    4.  Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods and sound assessment techniques.

    5.  Exemplary organization, communication and leadership skills are essential attributes.

    6.  Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff.

    7.  Punctual and consistent attendance.

    8.  Strong knowledge of classroom organization and management skills.

    9. Willingness to participate in building wide initiatives that include standards based grading and professional learning communities.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The candidate must demonstrate the ability to:

    3. Participate in workshops and other staff development programs that support building goals.

    4. Be an effective member of a professional learning community by establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with others.

    6. Communicate regularly and positively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and behavior.

    7. Be flexible to the demands of the position and manage time effectively.

    8. Work with students in an enthusiastic, supportive, and consistent manner.

    9. Maintain classroom in an orderly educational program.

    10. Use technology in the teaching and managing of students.

    11. Work with and assume the responsibility for the productive use of classroom para educators.

    12. Enforce and uphold all District and Building policies, rules and regulations.

    13. Perform other duties assigned.

     

    SPECIFIC DETAILS

    Monday-Friday 7.5 hours per day for the 2023-24 school year.
