Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. SunRidge Charter School Teacher 2024-25
Temporary TK- Kindergarten 1.0 FTE
SunRidge Class Teachers are under the supervision of and are evaluated by the SunRidge Director or his/her
designee. A Class Teacher works with the Director and other faculty members to implement the charter school’s
Waldorf methods curriculum in all core subjects to a class of 18-28 students. This position requires possession of a
valid California Teaching Credential, EL authorization, fingerprint clearance and TB testing.
Education/Development; or Professional Experience in a classroom with preschool age children equivalent
to 24 units of education
➢ Knowledge of:
➢ ADA Requirement: Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties, including lifting
thirty (30) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of thirty (30) pounds with assistance for a distance
of up to 25 feet
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
➢ Prepare and implement appropriate instructional methodologies and learning activities in the areas of study
➢ Communicate with students and parents/guardians regularly to review student work and activities
➢ Monitor student progress and maintain accurate and up-to-date documents for each student
➢ Prepare well-written reports of student progress as per the approved format and schedule
➢ Help plan and supervise enrichment activities, such as field trips and workshops
➢ When supervising students, assume responsibility for their safety and well being and maintain order and
discipline through caring, respectful strategies
➢ Prepare for classroom activities by preparing materials, obtaining supplies, and readying necessary equipment
➢ Assist in maintaining organization and cleanliness of program areas, such as clearing and storing materials,
etc.
➢ Report all injuries incurred by children to administrator
➢ Participate in staff meetings and conferences as scheduled
➢ Follow accepted principles, practices, rules, and regulations of the district
➢ Perform other related duties as assigned
