Early Childhood Lead Teacher Job Description
Reports To: Director: Allison Ellis
MISSION: Maximum Child is a Christian ministry, privately owned, licensed childcare facility designed to provide children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years old with experiences and opportunities that allow for the development of curiosity, initiative, problem-solving, and creativity, and to develop an awareness of God’s love, appreciation for His creation, a sense of self and a feeling of belonging to a group.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following
· experience in a licensed childcare setting
· Ability to provide a 1 paragraph writing sample
· classroom management that has children happy and busy
· A personal repertoire of Christian songs, poems and fingerplays that flow easily throughout the day
· lessons that involve teaching/communicating about God’s love, His creation, Christian salvation, Bible stories, thematic crafts, music and games
· knowledge pertaining to child health and safety.
· knowledge of age-appropriate expectations for behavior and academics
· The ability and willingness to be flexible as is often needed in other rooms or with tasks in a childcare center setting.
· The ability to communicate effectively with others, including giving and receiving feedback.
· Accept supervision and a willingness to learn
· Meet any specific content area requirements required by SC DSS Standards.
· The ability to nurture the parent-child relationship.
· The natural capacity to establish strong and caring relationships with the children in your care.
Functions
1. Daily Bible teaching that includes fun songs and Bible memory
2. Daily care giving tasks such as diapering, toileting, feeding, and playing with the children.
3. Maintain an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child and each child’s family.
4. Provide a learning environment for a child that is warm, supporting, and comforting.
5. Design and implement an indoor and outdoor learning environment that engages each child.
6. Prepare and implement transitioning to other rooms that ensure continuity of care; taking care to involve parents in the planning of transition and taking an active role in the transition process.
7. Conduct daily safety inspection of the classroom and outdoor learning environments.
8. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and staff trainings.
9. Report suspicions of child abuse and neglect to Director according to state law and agency procedure.
10. Daily cleaning involves sweeping and mopping the activity room & bathroom (to include corners and baseboards) and weekly sanitizing of all toys.
11. Hourly, daily, and monthly paperwork kept up to date per DSS regulations and center policies.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS TO BE COMPLETED BY APPLICANT AT THEIR EXPENSE:
· ECD 101, 102 or CDA credential
· Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid training
· Annual blood borne pathogen training which includes an exposure control plan
· 15 clock hours of continuing education per year recorded at www.scendeavors.org
· Completion of Child Care Center Staff File Checklist includes
o permission to run a criminal background check.
o Health assessment by a physician
o FBI fingerprinting (usually about $46)
o TB test
