Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. Develops and implements activities to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in kindergarten classroom setting. Being a Teacher Kindergarten monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Kindergarten assesses and documents students' progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Kindergarten occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. United Way Success by 6 Kindergarten Readiness Program
Funded by United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley
Student enrollment and funding will determine the number of positions available
Compensation: $20 per hour in accordance with the AEA CBA
Summer Program Dates: August 5, 2024 - August 16, 2024 (no school on June 19)
Summer Program Times: 8:00 am to 1:15 pm
Training Dates: August 1, 2024 - August 2, 2024 (April 17 teacher zoom)
Duties and Responsibilities:- Perform all duties/responsibilities in accordance with Austintown Local School District Policy and Procedures
- Follow the instructional guidelines for the Success By 6 Kindergarten Readiness Program provided by United Way
- Follow and execute the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Summer School Principal, Building Principal, Director of Curriculum, and/or Superintendent
Requirements: The following are required prior to starting assignment- Valid Ohio Teaching License in appropriate teaching area
- Favorable State and Federal background checks
- Official Sealed Transcripts
- Negative drug screen result
Employees must follow all board policies, all state, and federal laws, and adhere to the Ohio Code of Ethics set up by the Ohio Department of Education.
