Additionally, Teacher Vocational Education typically requires a bachelor's degree. Requires a state-specific vocational teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Vocational Education occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Special Education Teacher - Secondary

    • Incorporate feedback and professional learning into teaching practices
    • Maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with building and district staff (be a team player)
    • Participate eagerly in opportunities to learn, show a strong willingness to grow and maintain an interest in improving
    • Recognize students’ different needs, abilities and interests and be flexible to adjust instruction to meet those needs, abilities and interests 
    • Responsible for both instruction and writing IEP's with transition goals
    • Familiar with Oregon graduation requirements

    Minimum qualifications: 

    • Possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Teaching License
    • Possess or be able to obtain a Special Education Endorsement
    • Culturally proficient skills and strategies 

    Highly desirable qualifications:

    • Bilingual, preferably Spanish/English
    • Strong Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
    • Strong Knowledge of Response to Intervention strategies
    • Experience with Autism and Intellectual Disability is helpful
    • Multiple endorsements 

    COMPENSATION:

    Position starts fall of 2024.  Current salary range is $45,516.00 - $83,946.00 (depending on level of experience and education). The Milton Freewater School district offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package that includes:

    • District paid benefits with the public employee retirement system (PERS)
    • Competitive medical, dental and vision coverage. 
    • 1% bonus for living in the Milton Freewater School District area. (for the entire school year)
