    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

    Is directly accountable and responsible to the Health Science Assistant Dean.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for providing support for the Bismarck State College Health Science Program.
    • Responsible for supervising Health Science Program students in the classroom (didactic and/or laboratory) and/or clinical sites.
    • Responsible for assisting the Health Science Program faculty members.

    Hourly pay is based on degree earned: Bachelor's $41.81; Master's $45.75; Doctorate $47.44

    Position Description & Details


    Classroom/Laboratory/Clinical Duties

    • Assists in training students to industry standards.
    • Maintains accountability of materials and supplies.
    • Supervises students and makes sure they are following program specific policies and procedures.
    • Orders materials and supplies as needed
    • Keeps the area clean and organized.
    • Ensures all lab equipment is in good/safe working condition. Damaged equipment
    • Opens and closes the laboratory and classrooms. Ensures that students clean the area at the end of labs and maintains cleanliness throughout the area.
    • Assists the Health Science faculty in classroom presentations.
    • Sets up labs for specific training activities scheduled by the Health Science faculty.

    Miscellaneous Duties

    • Evaluates student progress.
    • Reports student issues to faculty members by following proper procedures (i.e., student conduct concerns, etc.).
    • Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and, as a whole for the college
    • Stays current in new equipment and teaching methods.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • Continuously – 66-100% - Stand, walk, use hands dexterously, talk or hear.
    • Frequently – 34-66% - Reach with hands and arms, lift up to 10 pounds.
    • Occasionally – 1-33% - Sit, climb, or balance, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, lift up to 100 pounds

    Minimum Requirements

    • Requires knowledge, skills, and abilities of the health science profession being taught.
    • Good interpersonal skills demonstrated positive customer service skills, and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds.
    • Basic computer skills.

    PROGRAM SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

    Emergency Medical Services

    • Current NREMT certification at or above the level they are training.
    • Current ND EMS licensure at or above the level they are training.
