Classical Preparatory School (CPS) provides a traditional classical education to scholars from toddler through 12th grade. Position Summary

The Grade Level Assistant Teacher position is a ten-month position that reports to the Lower School Dean of Academics and works closely with each teacher in his/her assigned grade level(s). The Assistant Teacher is a highly organized, disciplined, and motivated individual who helps support teachers in their routine duties so the teachers are more free to focus on instruction. The Assistant Teacher is responsible for a variety of duties throughout the day and week, including reinforcing instruction, preparing materials and equipment for classroom teachers, supporting the administrative and clerical needs of teachers, supervising students (recess and lunch), substitute teaching, assisting with before school and after school supervision and carline, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least one year experience working with elementary-aged children

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in any field
• Degree in Education
• Experience teaching or a desire to be a classroom teacher someday
• Familiar with Teach Like Champion 2.0, character education, classical education, Direct Instruction, CoreKnowledge, Saxon Math, and mastery-based instructional practices

Duties and Responsibilities

• Model and support students in developing virtuous character

This may include but is not limited to such tasks as making copies, sharpening pencils, changing bulletin boards, filing student papers, classroom organization and cleaning, grading, help with individual students, and supporting classroom
