Temporary Kids College Assistant

STATUS:
This is a temporary position that may work up to 40 hours per week between Monday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The temporary duration is from May 20 and July 19, 2024.
SUMMARY
The Kids College Assistant assists various Casual Instructors with their classes to ensure students enjoy a challenging learning experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assists instructors with presenting subject matter to students within guidelines.
- Assists instructors in providing a challenging learning experience that allows for student success and uses a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning.
- Meets all assigned classes and makes alternative arrangements with instructors and the Continuing Education staff for the class in the event of absences.
- Assists instructors with submitting completed liability and course evaluation forms.
- Assists instructors with recording attendance and completing class rosters and submits records to the Continuing Education department.
- Provides quality customer service and works collaboratively with instructors and staff, students and their parents, and the College community.
- Demonstrates a professional and helpful attitude toward students and fosters positive student and community relations.
- Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Performs other like duties as assigned.
- Reports to the Director of Continuing Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma/equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow policies and guidelines established in the Continuing Education Instructor Handbook and policies and procedures of FVCC.
- Ability to provide quality customer service and create a welcoming and supportive environment.
- Ability to work with students, parents, Kids College Instructors, and supervisors in a collaborative and professional manner.
- Demonstrates flexibility to assist a variety of instructors with their classes as needed.
- Ability and willingness to serve as a representative for the College by interacting appropriately with the College community and community.
- Ability to follow directions.
- Demonstrated communication, presentation, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to meet all assigned classes.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to respond in the event of an emergency.
- Ability to perform a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
