Teaching Assistant (College) jobs in Melbourne, FL

Full-time, year-round position responsible for the installation and operation of all sound, projection and video systems at the Alan Jay Wildstein Center for the Performing Arts, University Center, College, community and rental events. Position requires nights, weekends and some holidays due to the nature of cultural programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Acts as primary Audio Engineer at the highest quality for a variety of live and live stream events utilizing the following equipment: Currently YAMAHA CL5 (FOH Console), YAMAHA PM5D (Monitors Console), MYERS Mica Line Array with Galileo 616 for system processing, DANTE and Tricaster TC1 - Video Switcher.
• Oversees all production sound operations, including planning, development, set-up, show running and maintenance, used for audio and video production of touring artists, College events, community performances, and other events. Collaborates with visiting audio staff when required.
• Reviews and executes technical riders and audio/video requests of touring performances in conjunction with the Technical Director. Assists in gathering information for purchasing and installation of equipment.
• Assists in all aspects of pre-production, set-up, and production of performing arts series' events, including set-up and striking of stage, lights, sound, loading/unloading of equipment, and traffic control at the Auditorium and various other locations
• Assists in the set-up and use of auxiliary areas affected by these events such as dressing rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, or other public areas.
• Maintains and inventories assigned equipment.
• Trains and supervises part-time, temporary production assistants and assists crew coordination.
• Records work time and quantities of materials used on specific events as directed.
• Maintains a good working relationship with College personnel, visiting production companies, and facilities users.
• Contributes to unit planning, assessment, and college institutional effectiveness efforts.
• Acts in accordance with College policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational: Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, Technical Theater or relevant field preferred. High school diploma (or equivalency) required. Five (5) years of audio and video verifiable work experience may substitute for diploma requirement.

Experiential: Three years experience with theater audio and video operations for live performances required.

Other: Position requires nights, weekends and some holidays due to the nature of cultural programming. Position involves moderately heavy manual work, including lifting and moving heavy equipment and supplies. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Competency in Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred. Knowledge of theater terms preferred.
