Summary:
The Instructor , Respiratory Therapy is responsible for all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the program . The Respiratory Therapy Instructor will engage students in classroom theory, laboratory skills practice and technical instruction. Instructor will communicate with community industry partners and engage in staff activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Organization, administration, continuous review and revision , planning for and development of locations (with appropriate supervision) for evolving practice skills, and the general effectiveness of the clinical experience .
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Supervises all RT faculty including the Director of Clinical Education; performs periodic and annual performance evaluations for all applicable faculty
- Secures a Medical Director for the RT program
- Maintains a confidential manner relative to academic grades, attendance, transcripts, personal advising and discussions, and student personal and financial records
- Assists with annual budget preparations; assures the department operates on a fiscally sound basis; maintains capital asset and consumables inventory
- In concert with the admissions department, oversees the selection of incoming RT applicants; participates in student recruitment, admissions, and campus retention activities
- Maintains back-up and computer records of all curriculum, tests, quizzes, accreditation records, program communications and personnel records
- Assures accurate and timely communications with programmatic accreditation and licensing bodies; prepares and submits annual accreditation report; prepares for and assists with accreditation visits; responds to corporate directives
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of a baccalaureate (BA) degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
- Possess a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential.
- Hold a current, active State of Colorado Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
- Minimum of two (2) years ' experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
- Graduate of a CoARC accredited advanced practitioner respiratory care program .
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability , and ethnic backgrounds.
- Successful candidate must possess or be eligible to obtain
a Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license, and a Colorado Career and Technical Education (CTE) secondary/postsecondary full-time credential.

As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment.
