    Henderson Building Solutions is seeking a VHT Technical Director to join their team in the Lenexa, KS office. The VHT Technical Director is responsible for quality and efficiency of all technical aspects of engineering across the sector. The VHT Technical Director manages the implementation of quality-related strategies and directs policies and procedures appropriate to the technical areas of the sector. The VHT Technical Director contributes technical oversight to business decisions and execution of projects to ensure alignment with the sector’s technical expertise and work pursuits. The VHT Technical Director works cooperatively with other sector and organizational leadership teams to define and mobilize company-wide strategies. This position is heavily matrixed and may include accountabilities to the Chief Technical Officer, Director of Engineering, and/or technical quality team leadership.

    Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:
    • Ten (10) or greater years of relevant experience, with a minimum of five (5) years leadership/management experience. (e.g., personnel management, project management, program direction, strategic leadership)
    • History of building and/or overseeing technically superior teams that drive business results.
    • Extensive understanding of the technical needs of the industry and proven track record of quality monitoring, maintenance, and improvement.
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional leadership to align efforts and meet organizational goals.
    Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:

    Operations:
    • Defines and cascades goals and accountabilities for implementation of technical quality strategy appropriate for the business and growth needs of the sector.
    • Develops, monitors, and implements policies and procedures appropriate to the technical execution including Engineer of Record and licensing/certification needs within the sector, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate guidelines.
    • Teams with sector leadership to align staffing decisions and workload forecasting with engineering approach for the sector.
    • Supervises Sector Technical Managers and other roles responsible for technical quality within the sector.
    • Provides technical expertise in support of risk management team to resolve project disputes.
    Profitability:
    • Contributes to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs in response to current and future industry demands.
    • Develops the annual budget for the sector in cooperation with the sector leadership team, manages aspects of the budget related to technical execution to maximize profits.
    • Aligns sector technical processes and execution in support of company goals and strategies.
    • Collaborates to identify opportunities to leverage technical strengths in pursuit of new work to ensure a competitive market position.
    Employee Engagement/Teamwork:
    • Mentors Sector Technical Managers and supports efforts to provide technical training and mentoring throughout the sector.
    • Demonstrates an organization-wide mindset, cooperating across sector leadership teams to collectively meet company goals.
    Client Experience:
    • Aligns technical execution across the sector to streamline client experience and maximize client satisfaction.
    • Supports business development decisions to ensure technical expertise meets future client expectations.
    • Supports project teams to resolve client concerns and/or dispute regarding technical quality.
    Growth & Innovation:
    • Pursues and uses up-to-date technical expertise and industry knowledge to assist sector leadership team in developing plans for the growth and development of the sector.
    • Supports implementation of companywide innovation goals at the sector level.
    • Represents company technical expertise in industrywide events and/or thought leadership.
