Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.   • Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Cyber Security Technical Writer opportunities in Amarillo, TX at the Pantex Plant.

    Clearance: Active DOE L or Q (or DOD Secret of Top-Secret) security clearance preferred. Uncleared candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
    Citizenship: United States Citizenship required

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Responsibilities:
    • Ability to present administrative, technical, and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word as well as diagrams and charts.
    • Ability to explain an experienced approach to technical editing.
    • Ability to explain NIST standards and associate with enterprise policy, procedures.
    • Better application and understanding of cyber security principals.
    • Coordinating and ensuring technical requirements of cyber security are appropriately documented and integrated into the overall site security efforts.
    • Reviewing and analyzing planned projects and initiatives that may have an impact on the cyber security policies and procedures.
    • Evaluating cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risk to computing resources and clearly communicate into written policies and procedures.
    • Researching and documenting security best practices for devices, applications, and emerging technologies.
    • Evaluating compliance with the organization's security policies and making recommendations for areas of improvement.

    Education and Experience
    • Minimum BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field with with 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Formal training or a demonstrated knowledge of cyber security is required.
    • Must have working knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) policy and procedures.
    • Must have technical editing experience (not just reviewed or coordinated) for start-finish completion of policies and procedures in IT and cyber fields.
    • Good technical computing expertise with working knowledge of security controls for networks, systems, databases, and enterprise applications is required as well as knowledge of system life cycle methodologies to include risk management and configuration management.
    • Experience with the integration of new information technology into existing infrastructures is desired as well as familiarity with DOE/NNSA cyber security policy and associated implementation.
    • Knowledge of federal cybersecurity protection standards and baselines (e.g. NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800 series Special Publications, DoD STIGs, CNSSI 1253, DOE SD 205.1, DOE O 205.1).
    • Ability to develop and update cybersecurity policy documents, system security plans, baselines and threat models for deployment and risk acceptance decisions.
    • Strong teamwork skills, including interaction with end users and operations personnel, in a service-oriented environment.
    • Understanding of networking technologies and protocols.
    • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain and government-issued "Q" clearance.
    • Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
    • Occasional travel may be required between the two sites.
    • Successful drug screening.
    • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
    • Must be able to work On Site.
