Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Qualifications/Experience Needed:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
Experience in Software Engineering including working various phases of the software development lifecycle
Experience with Software Development Using C/C , JAVA, or JavaScript
Experience working in a collaborative team environment that requires communication with other engineering, program, and external stakeholders
Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, VxWorks or other Real time operating systems
Familiarity with Agile lifecycle process including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development Methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with scripting languages such as Python
Experience with DevOps, Jenkins and automated testing
Exposure to Model Driven Development
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), embedded programming, processor/board architecture and design
Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
Applied experience in Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/D)
Working experience with Microservice Architectures and Containerized Applications
Experience with software integration on custom hardware
