Technical Illustrator creates illustrations for use in technical manuals, product specifications, maintenance documents, advertisements, and other media. Utilizes a variety of graphic files, photo images, and sketches to create detailed technical illustrations. Being a Technical Illustrator produces 3-D, cutaway, or exploded views of objects. Familiar and proficient with graphic illustration and CAD software tools. Additionally, Technical Illustrator typically requires an associate degree in art, design, or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Technical Illustrator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate metal materials according to specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine the correct dimensions and tolerances
- Perform basic math calculations to ensure accurate measurements and angles
- Handle materials and load them onto the press brake machine
- Monitor the production process to ensure quality control standards are met
- Inspect finished products for defects and make adjustments as needed
- Package finished products for shipment or delivery
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating press brake machines or similar equipment is required
- Strong knowledge of tooling and equipment used in metal fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Familiarity with quality control processes and procedures
- Ability to handle materials safely and efficiently
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
