Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. POSITION TITLE: Librarian
EXEMPTION STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As assigned by contract, 2023-2024 school year
Primary Purpose:
Direct the operation of the school library/media center. Provide services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems. Incorporate curriculum and technology in the services and resources for students. Serve as teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library/media center is involved in instructional programs of the school.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master’s degree from accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid Texas librarian or learning resources specialist certificate or endorsement
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of library media program
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
Strong technology skills
Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two years classroom teacher experience
