Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     The Acquisitions Librarian is responsible for the supervision and management of all aspects of acquisition operations, including: processes continuing resources, catalogs materials, monitors acquisitions expenditures, ensures the ordering and receipt of library materials in all formats and media, manages electronic resources and licensing, and oversees vendor relations and purchasing agreements. The Acquisitions Librarian participates in library committee work and other library projects.


    Qualifications:


    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    : (Note: Only the following two criteria-one education and one experience-will be used for screening qualified applicants.)

    1. Master's degree in library and information science or other graduate degree with demonstrated acquisitions experience in a research or academic library.

    2. Excellent communication skills


    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
    (Note: The following criteria will not be used in screening qualified applicants but may be considered in the final decision-selection process of candidates interviewed.)

    1. Strong service commitment

    2. Ability to catalog monographs from OCLC database.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Note: The following criteria will not be used in screening qualified applicants and may not be used in lieu of minimum qualifications stated above.)


    1. Law library experience

    2. Familiarity with Innovative Interfaces integrated library system

    Knowledge of a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
