    PAY AND BENEFITS


    Annual Pay Range: $68,868.87 - $87,447.48

    Hourly Pay Range: $33.110035 - $42.042059

    Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

    Clackamas County Library Support Services is seeking an experienced, motivated, and collaborative individual to join our dynamic team as a Technical Services Librarian (classified as Librarian 2). If selected for this position, you will be responsible for providing professional library services of a complex or technical nature to 13 diverse libraries across the County. Specifically, in this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert and will work closely with another Technical Services Librarian to coordinate all centralized technical services for Libraries in Clackamas County (LINCC), manage daily cataloging workload, analyze and troubleshoot issues, communicate procedural changes, as well as plan and complete longer-term projects.

    Library Support Services is part of the Department of Transportation & Development (DTD) under Community Services. We are committed to providing a variety of centralized services that support the independent, autonomous member libraries in the LINCC consortium, so they can provide outstanding assistance and resources to their patrons. It is critical that every member of our program recognizes the vital role we play in our libraries' communities and understands the expectations those communities have for access, availability, and value. Our team satisfies this demand by understanding customer needs, monitoring industry trends and developments, planning improvements, and offering a solution-based approach to challenges or issues that arise. To that end, we are searching for an individual, who is motivated to contribute to a highly functional team with a strong focus on cooperation and innovative solutions, and who can demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

    Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

    • Possession of a Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or a Master's degree in Library Information Systems (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited college or university
    • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience providing professional library services
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience locating, creating, evaluating, and/or editing bibliographic and authority records, including experience working with bibliographic-level records in MARC format and application of AACR2 and RDA cataloging rules
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience using acquisitions, serials, and reporting functions of an Integrated Library System (ILS)

    Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

    • Experience working in a public library cooperative or consortium
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience creating original MARC records using AACR2 and RDA cataloging rules
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience using SirsiDynix Symphony and BLUEcloud Analytics
    • Experience using cataloging software, such as OCLC Connexion, MarcEdit, or similar systems
    • Experience analyzing computer log files to recreate events and isolate errors
    • Experience developing/reviewing local cataloging standards
    • Experience creating, analyzing, and modifying batch data files

    TYPICAL TASKS


    Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Creating original MARC records and copy cataloging thousands of new physical materials each month. Includes reviewing, editing, and assigning standardized Library of Congress authorized headings; providing accurate descriptive data; maintaining quality and accuracy of bibliographic data and authority control in compliance with current and emerging international and local bibliographic encoding standards.
    • Conducting regular maintenance within the cataloging, serials, and acquisitions ILS modules. Includes creating and updating serial controls; batch editing MARC and item records; creating, modifying, troubleshooting and deleting FTP, EDIFACT and other associated files; and completing seasonal rollover processes.
    • Supporting and training library staff in workflow processes and the use of technical services software (cataloging, acquisitions, serials, reporting, automated processes, and the online catalog). Developing and maintaining instructional materials on LINCC intranet.
    • Acting as a liaison between libraries and vendors to facilitate automated acquisitions processing.
    • Collaborating with library staff to inform and develop recommendations for improving current services, practices and procedures related to cataloging and acquisitions.
    • Developing, maintaining, and improving reports used for statistics and day-to-day operations.

    WORKING CONDITIONS


    Duties require continuous walking/moving, standing for extended periods, frequent squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching forward and overhead, fine motor control, and the ability to lift 35 pounds, lift and carry 20 pounds, overhead reach 5 pounds, and push/pull 20 pounds. Duties also involve exposure to dust and odor/fumes including strong perfumes.


    WORK SCHEDULE


    This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

    Please Note: This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department’s business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.

    The mission of the Business and Community Services (BCS) Department is to provide and promote County Libraries, the Library Network, County Fair, Rural Parks, Forest Management, Stone Creek Golf Club, Property Management and Business and Economic Development. In addition, BCS manages the operation of two service districts; North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District and Library District of Clackamas County. We provide educational, economical, cultural and recreational resources and programs to Clackamas County residents, visitors and business partners so that Clackamas County continues to be a great place to live, learn, visit, work and play.

    ABOUT LINCC

    The LINCC (Libraries in Clackamas County) cooperative consists of 13 member libraries (operated by 11 cities, with one location operated directly by Clackamas County).

    Our office, LINCC Library Services (Library Network), provides the centralized services and support which help the independent, autonomous LINCC libraries to function as a County-wide cooperative and provide a seamless patron experience County-wide. These services include ILS administration, cataloging services, courier services, technology support, interlibrary loans, centralized procurement of shared resources, training support, project coordination, and other administrative support/services.

    Our office works closely with individual LINCC libraries and with LINCC professional committees (made up of staff members from member libraries) to identify priorities, develop shared practices and procedures, deliver new services, address problems or issues, and improve the patron library experience County-wide.
