Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     Position Title
    Librarian in Residence

    Job Description
    This position is part of the Adrian Alexander Librarian in Residence Program. This is a one-year appointment for 25 hours per week. This position is responsible for the coordination and management of the Federal Depository Library Program at McFarlin Library and reports to the Director of Bibliographic Services.
    CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:
    • Completion of the Federal Depository Library Program Coordinator Certificate Program, if not already completed
    • Revision and maintenance of the library’s print collection
    • Oversee an extensive reconfiguration of the library’s FDLP holdings
    • Collaborate with regional and national FDLP coordinators
    • Insure compliance with all rules and regulations for participation in the Federal Depository Library Program
    • Oversee the conversion of the collection of a digital format

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master’s degree in Library Science or Library & Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program or within one year of completion of such a program.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with staff, faculty, students, community patrons, and other libraries
    • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills

    Required Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working in the Federal Depository Library Program, performing collection management, cataloging in the SuDoc classification scheme, and compliance
    • Completion of the FDLP Coordinator Certificate Program
    • Experience using Innovative Interfaces Sierra LSP and OCLC WorldShare Management Services LSP
