Technical Producer - Web acts as a liaison for the creative web content team and the IT technical team. Develops the technical specifications for the website. Being a Technical Producer - Web plans and reviews the navigational user interface design. Plans and reviews site architecture for new website products and features. Additionally, Technical Producer - Web troubleshoots, tests and oversees the launch of new products. Coordinates among cross-functional groups to identify challenges and recommends and implements solutions. Knowledgeable about commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field (i.e., HTML, JAVA, Mac, UNIX and Windows platforms). May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. The Technical Producer - Web works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. We are a collaborative newsroom, and this position will work with our reporters, editors, data experts and graphic professionals to expand our audience and engage our readers. Position will work a hybrid schedule from our Chicago office but could be fully remote for the more experienced person. Responsibilities: Work with colleagues to expand the audience for Modern Healthcare’s daily news content, using all available tools Build interactive elements for desktop, mobile and social web experiences Monitor and post content from external sites, enhancing stories with internal links and targeted SEO headlines Manage and monitor newsletters to better understand what subject lines, order and content play well with our audience Handle breaking-news and don’t-miss alerts and develop a cohesive strategy for the brand Assist the newsroom in SEO best practices Help create and publish multimedia content to enhance coverage (i.e., audio, video, slideshows) Post stories to social media as needed Requirements: Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience working in digital journalism at a news organization. Experience in Adobe Photoshop and Premier or similar programs a plus but not required Interest in – or a willingness to quickly learn - healthcare policy and business, and able to translate complex topics into engaging headlines and summaries Strong news judgment, attention to detail and ability to work quickly under deadline Experience with SEO, including headline writing, and web analytics (such as Omniture, Chartbeat or Google Analytics) This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. Pay Transparency Disclosure: The estimated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000. The final salary offering will take into account a wide range of specific and relevant factors, including experience, accomplishments and location. The salary range provided should not be considered as a salary limit or cap.
