Electroswitch, located South of Boston, is currently seeking an experienced Support person for our IT/IS department. This position will perform technical support duties relating to the company’s computer, network, telephone and office systems. Requires proficiency with a wide variety of hardware and software.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Serve as Help Desk support specialist providing hardware and software support for a host computer IBM and Microsoft based Servers, a local and wide area network, Windows based PC’s, phone and voice messaging systems, and office equipment.
- Assist end-users in local and remote locations. Initiate follow-up with appropriate person(s).
- Provides accurate and efficient service to end-users.
- Monitors the host system’s job message and output queues part-time Servers messages, error logs and overall operation on a daily basis.
- Coordinates the Help Desk activities and Provides first level provides support for operational and user questions/problems which includes hardware and software.
- Provides resolution and/or recommendations to the Supervisor.
- Print and distribute reports, and forms and related paperwork as required.
- Maintain system backups including schedules, logs, storage and procedures per department procedures.
- Administers Network functions on the local and wide area network.
- Provides operational and technical support for end-users.
- Configures and troubleshoots computer networks.
- For complex problems, confers with internal and external technical support for resolution.
- Generate proper documentation for next each occurrence of said each problem using a Call Log.
- Installs, upgrades and configures network file and print serving and security on the file servers.
- Provides phone system support including administration, security, moves-adds-changes.
- Analyze and resolve problems.
- Research new features, test and implement if appropriate with necessary approvals.
- Seek assistance/guidance from Supervisor when needed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Back-up old data and purge/reorganize system files per schedule or as required.
- Monitor and report inventory on all computer forms and supplies to supervisor.
- Assist with computer and telephone cabling and configuration as required.
- Develop and maintain documentation for systems and procedures as necessary.
- Administer security on host system Servers, PC’s, network, telephone and office equipment.
- Record logs and report distribution procedures and all other pertinent documentation.
- Maintain training and reference material library.
- Apply software updates/fixes to various systems, as required.
- Perform minor programming modifications and database queries, as requested.
- Assist with end-user training and instruction on all systems equipment.
- Serve as a team member on various company, department and user projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
Desirable Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position candidates must possess an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Technical Training or equivalent job experience with three to five years or more experience in the field.
