Position Overview

Examples of Duties

• Provides first line Help Desk support
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems related to personal computers and peripherals
• Installs software on computers, initializing systems, installing and upgrading vendor application software, updating operating systems, and applications
• Identifies software uses/needs and researches/recommends products and enhancements that are applicable to County needs with IS Senior Technical Specialist oversight
• Enforces county policies concerning the legal/correct use of computer equipment
• Helps enforce security policies
• Responds to internal and external customer concerns and complaints & refers concerns and complaints to IS Client Support Manager when appropriate
• Obtains pricing information from vendors, prepares bid documentation for computers and related equipment with IS Senior Technical Specialist oversight
• Conducts training for employees on new and existing computer hardware and software, and computer applications

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of Cumberland County as such pertains to the performance of the essential duties of the position
• Knowledge of principles and practices of computer/network hardware installation and repair and computer software application
• Knowledge of laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, organization of the department and of related departments and agencies and occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work
• Ability to maintain current knowledge of hardware and software and recommend modifications as necessary
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships, exercise good judgment, creativity, flexibility, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs
