    The Technical Writer/Trainer, reporting to the Customer Service Manager, will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of training programs, documentation and workflows that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations.

    Responsibilities

    Major Areas of Responsibility

      Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
    • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
    • Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
    • Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
    • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
    • Ability to edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or plant personnel and be designated Standard-Practice Analyst.
    • Track and maintain version control of all documentation and workflow changes or modifications and ensure appropriate stakeholders are aware.
    • Create and facilitate a strategic plan to address customer training needs.
    • Contributes to team effort of the Customer Support department by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Creates training syllabi, coordinates schedule for training staff for both internal and external sources and provides in person training as part go live system preparations.
    • Other duties as required.

    Basic Broad Knowledge

    • Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
    • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
    Qualifications

    Basic Skills & Abilities

    • Excellent customer service skills and frequent customer interaction is required.
    • Self-directed.
    • Detail-oriented.
    • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills to train customers
    • Ability to use MS Excel, Word, Outlook to prepare reports of department activities.
    • Must be able to multi-task.
    • Must be able to travel with occasional little notice
    • Ability to travel 35-45% of the time.
    • Work well under pressure and deadlines.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree preferably in Communication or Business, or equivalent work experience.
    • 2 years' experience in a role such as sales, marketing, training or engineering in an engineered-to-order material handling systems organization.
    • 2 years' experience writing and documenting detailed procedures.
    • 2 years' experience developing and delivering classroom-based and virtual training.

    Demonstrated Physical Abilities

    Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
