    Job Description
    The Associate Vice President of Academic Operations and Institutional Effectiveness provides administrative leadership and oversight for academic operations and institutional research, planning, assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement. This includes data driven/informed decision-making for program assessment, student learning outcomes, student satisfaction measurement. The incumbent is responsible for leading, developing and managing the College’s assessment processes to ensure effective procedures and reporting of the quality of student learning while maintaining alignment with the institution’s mission and strategic objectives. The Associate Vice President leads accreditation in the areas of assessment, continuous improvement, and compliance, including self-studies and reports, preparation of site visits, and compilation of data.
    The position builds and facilitates a culture of evidence, assessment, and continuous improvement across the institution; provides (data) expertise and support to administrators, faculty, and staff; and contributes knowledge of new, cutting-edge assessment approaches based on industry best practices.

    Required Qualifications
    • A master’s degree in related field
    • Five years of full-time employment in a post-secondary educational institution with progressively responsible positions managing, supervising and/or directing academic affairs
    • An understanding of the mission and role of community and technical colleges
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to facilitate the development of a customer-centered team of professionals
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with regional accreditation
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
    • Experience working with diverse populations and student success initiatives
    • Ability to conceptualize and manage detailed implementation; ability to effectively execute objectives in a timely and efficient manner
    • Experience in coaching employees on use of data and evaluation, process improvement and strategy execution
    • Demonstrated experience supporting and collaborating with faculty
    • Experience in conducting research
    • Experience with data analysis, and evaluation protocols
    • Strong organizational and budgetary management skills
    • Demonstrated experience in student learning assessment and continuous quality improvement
    • Ability to travel

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with use of data to improve/impact an institutional program, initiatives, operations, and/or functions, exposure to Institutional Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement processes
    • Experience with data extraction platform and relational databases
    • Knowledge of Higher Education policies, procedures, and organizational structures and activities
    • Experience accessing data from management information systems in a network
    • Familiarity with state and federal mandated reports and community college accountability report requirements (IPEDS, HLC Accreditation)
    • Experience with higher education stakeholder surveys

    Other Requirements
    The Associate Vice President of Academic Operations and Institutional Effectiveness recommends to the Leadership Cabinet ideas for improving the office/college organization to give better assistance to students, staff and/or the public, and keeps abreast of pressing topics.

    This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and requires the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration. This position also works with all college constituents, Minnesota State System, external agencies, federal, state, philanthropies, accreditation businesses, grantors, and other agencies.
