    Bachoco OK Foods is seeking a Sr. Manager of Technical & Veterinary Services for our Fort Smith, AR location.

    Summary:Responsible for all aspects of managing poultry veterinary health. Key aspects of the role include maintaining and optimising health standards through the process and implementation of preventive health programs, monitoring health status of all poultry, developing and practicing biosecurity programs, as well as animal welfare programs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Oversee the health and quality of all breeding and broiler stock by complying with company and industry regulatory standards, as well as providing dedicated support to the health monitoring, biosecurity, vaccination, animal welfare, export certification, education and training programs.
    • Provide solutions to production teams on flock health/management issues.
    • Assist in the development of a long-term technical strategy in all areas of live production.
    • Diagnostic support including environmental and biological sampling and necropsy service.
    • Interpretation of microbiology, serology, histopathology, and pathology results.
    • Provide technical support on health issues on broilers, broiler breeders.
    • Ability to run routine lab tests including ELISA, AGID, PCR, basic bacteriology, and water quality.
    • Understands animal welfare programs and participates in third party audits.
    • Understanding of slaughter practices in the plant.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience:Must have a D.V.M.and be U.S.D.A. accredited. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.

    Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software; Word Processing software

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must have a D.V.M.and be U.S.D.A. accredited. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to qualify for the company's driver program.
