    Responsibilities: 

    • Create and modify CAD models of mechanical components, tools, fixtures, jigs, structures, mechanisms, and all GSE hardware for rapid prototyping and production in Creo/CATIA & Windchill.
    • Create drawings from CAD models of designs of metallic and composite materials.  
    • Create piping and routing for fluid systems drawings including GD&T annotations.
    • Create models and drawings of components, joints, and assemblies.
    • Deliver clean geometry suitable for creating finite element models.
    • Incorporate drawing standards based on the company, program, and industry standards.
    • Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews.
    • Support external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle to ensure GSE is functionally correct and meets the requirements set forth in specifications.
    • Participate in GSE manufacturing, operational, and program technical reviews.

     

    Qualifications: 

    • Minimum Associate degree in mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Product Design, Tooling Design, or related subject area.
    • Successful candidates in this role typically have 7 years of related design experience.
    • Experience with aerospace, automotive, or launch vehicles structures and mechanisms.
    • Experience in designing tools, jigs, fixtures, structures, and mechanisms.
    • Proficiency in CAD programs (preferred Creo/CATIA & Windchill).
    • Proficient in standard fits, tolerance stack, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
    • Strong experience in drawing generation, checking, and release process.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. 
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

     

    Desired: 

    • Preferred experience working on GSE or tooling in aerospace industry.
    • Preferred experience with hands on fabrication, assembly, or maintenance operations. 
    • Experience with revision control and data configuration in Windchill.
    • Experience in selecting standard aerospace hardware (fasteners, bushings, washers, pins, etc.).
    • Experience in working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
