Machine Shop Manager

Location: Birmingham, AL

Responsibilities

Manage project workflow and schedule to complete projects on time.

Manage workflow process and responsible for quality control procedures to ensure parts meet engineered drawing specs.

Write CNC programs and assist in set-up of machines for various jobs.

Identify and purchase tooling.

Manage machine shop inventory and reduce waste.

Collaborate with engineering on necessary design changes for manufacturability.

Interact with customers to instill confidence and maintain good working relationships and develop business.

Qualifications & Required Skills

Experience programming and operating CNC milling and turning centers.

Experience operating manual mills and lathes.

Thorough knowledge of basic machining principles (speeds, feeds, tooling, etc.)

Experience utilizing CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion or similar) for design and programming.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals.

Technical degree or equivalent experience

Minimum 10 years' experience in the CNC machining industry

Minimum 5 years' experience in a managerial or leadership role
