WRITER

DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC RELATIONS

Jamaica Hospital Medical Center a member of the MediSys Health Network is seeking an experienced full-time Onsite Writer for our Public Affairs Department.

Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs, the selected candidate will be responsible for writing, editing, and posting content for multi-hospital network’s social media platforms, community and employee newsletters, and websites.

DUTIES:

• Writing content for employee and community newsletters.
• Updating and maintaining content and multiple network websites.
• Contributing content for multiple hospital social media platforms including long form articles, physician bios, and captions for photo stories.
• Writing content for other mediums including brochures, posters, ad copy, and radio scripts.
• Research data for articles using verified and trusted sources.
• Editing content contributed by other hospital employees.
• Conducting face-to-face and telephone interviews to gather research and quotes used to develop PR materials, news releases, feature articles, etc.
• Monitoring effectiveness of all written digital content for search engine optimization (SEO).

REQUIREMENT

• Bachelor’s Degree in English or Journalism
• 3 -5 years of writing experience.
• Good writing and editing skills.
• Experience writing digital content to maximize SEO
• Experience or knowledge writing for the healthcare industry.
• Good interpersonal skills (for interview purposes).
• Comfortable working in a team dynamic.
• Must be a creative, independent thinker.
• Knowledge of WordPress, Hootsuite, and Benchmark is a plus
