    Duties:

    Instructional duties range from developmental writing to upper- and lower-division technical writing, academic writing, business writing, science writing, and technical editing. The combined teaching and service load is 15 credits per semester, with instructional duties assigned at both Montana Technological University and Highlands College. Service activities include committee work, assistance with recruitment and retention initiatives, assessment assistance, course/curriculum development, course materials maintenance, and other duties as assigned. The position resides within Montana Technological University’s Writing Program and reports to the Director of Writing.

    Required Qualifications:

    • a master’s degree or higher in a field focused on writing development, such as technical writing, linguistics, journalism, professional writing, fiction writing, or composition;
    • experience developing and teaching upper- and lower-division college writing courses, including developmental writing, technical/business writing, academic writing, and writing corequisite courses;
    • experience handling multiple course preps, large class sizes (20 ) in writing-intensive/focused courses, and service duties in addition to teaching;
    • a demonstrated ability to use effective written and public communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience developing and teaching university-level academic success courses or workshops.
    • Experience developing and teaching online or hybrid writing courses.
    • Experience teaching graduate-level writing courses.
    • Experience supervising a writing or academic success center.

    Physical Demands

    Some classroom/office locations are not accessible by elevator or ramp. Incumbent must be able to negotiate stairs several times per day.
