GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
The Director of Grant Writing and Administration will be responsible for setting fund-raising goals, establishing priorities, and developing and writing grant applications in order to reach funding targets and fund college priorities. The Director will work with interested faculty, administration, and staff to identify appropriate grant opportunities and submit competitive proposals.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish annual and long-term goals for grant funding in order to implement the college's objectives.
Serve as lead campus grant writer to identify grants for areas of college priority. Provide training for support grant writers and collaborators.
Along with the Business Office, provide oversight of all grant-funded programs to insure that goals are met, funds are appropriately expended, and all reports are submitted in a timely fashion.
Develop and maintain materials to assist grants staff and campus colleagues in grant-seeking pursuits, keeping faculty and staff informed of grant programs relevant to their needs.
Maintain liaison with funding agencies and act to insure coordination between college projects and the funding agencies.
Approve grant applications before they are submitted, assuring quality of material, and grant alignment with institutional goals.
Maintain records of grant submissions and all required records for funded projects.
Coordinate efforts with college cabinet members to ensure that college projects and grant-funded projects are coordinated in pursuit of similar goals.
Coordinate with the Controller to insure that required matching funds and in-kind services are documented, and that grant budgets accurately reflect college policies and procedures.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required, Master's degree preferred. Substantial preparation is expected in English, Journalism, technical writing, marketing writing, or related area.
EXPERIENCE:
At least three (3) years (Seven (7) with a Bachelor's) of work experience required. Successful experience developing and writing grant proposals for federal, state, foundation, or other funding is required. Experience administering grant-funded programs is preferred. Computer experience must include Microsoft Office. Administrative and/or teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to work well with others and to direct the efforts of others toward a mutual goal will be necessary. Knowledge of the processes needed for obtaining and managing federal, state, and foundation grant programs is required, including familiarity with grants.gov. Strong organizations skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure of deadlines are expected. The ability to organize and prioritize work in order to meet multiple deadlines is expected, as is the ability to solve problems and to deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Expertise in grant writing, budget development and program administration is expected. Ability to promote grants development on campus and assist others to develop grant writing skills are necessary. Computer competency is required. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity.
RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Vice President for Development & External Affairs. Grants Associate staff member(s) report to this position.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a twelve-month, year round position. Full time hours are equivalent to 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
