Medical Assistant Academic Program Manager

  • The Academic Program Manager provides academic supervision for Medical Assistant programs and all relevant courses. The main tasks will be concentrated in five main areas: Teaching, Student Retention, Curriculum, Accreditation and Learning Assessment Processes. This includes teaching and demonstrations in the classroom, laboratory setting, blended or online according to program objectives and course syllabi and assessing student skills and supervising students in externship and/or capstone course. The Academic Program Manager develops daily lesson plans as teaching guidelines based upon the approved curriculum and ensures all learning goals for the courses are met. Program Managers are Full-Time, exempt and directly accountable to the Dean or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Current valid Medical Assistant Certification: RMA, CMA, or NCMA required
    • Associate Degree in Medical Assistant Or
    • A combination of work experience and/or required credentials in the field they will be teaching: Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience at the college level; preferably in the proprietary school setting; and, a minimum of 3 years of work experience in field.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teaches externship and/or other blended/online course not to exceed one teaching load per module.
    • Evaluates affiliation agreements with the externship sites to ensure 150% availability.
    • Monitors all course-learning objectives to include completion of required courses and hours.
    • Conducts externship orientation workshops, immunization clinics, clinical skills checklist to prepare students for the externship sites and assign students to externship sites.
    • Monitors daily student attendance within the program, provide necessary measures to ensure attendance (80%) and retention (minimum 70%) benchmarks.
    • Provides active support to the college administration (Dean or Associate Dean of Academic Affairs) to help achieve the goals and objectives related to attrition, placement, certifications, reentry, & laddering benchmarks and annual outcomes.
    • Ensures program operations, personnel, facilities and curriculum comply with state, accreditation and programmatic regulatory bodies.
    • Assists Academic Department with New Faculty Hiring, Orientation, Training Sessions, classroom observations and monthly instructor class assignments.
    • Recommends all field trips, guest speakers and other informational, or industry current events to Academic Dean.
    • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and certification, state and federal guidelines related to the program.
    • Ensures compliance with midterm and final grade posting process for all courses of the program.
    • Collaborates with Career Services to achieve a 40% Extern to Hire Placement Conversion Rate.
