Responsibilities:
The Accelerator Technical Manager position is based at the Louisiana Accelerator Center (LAC). The Accelerator Technical Manager is responsible for
- Maintaining and upkeeping the 1.7 MeV NEC Pelletron Accelerator.
- Providing support to users who perform experiments at the LAC.
- Assisting with MeV ion-beam experiments on soft/biological and solid matter.
- Understanding data analysis procedures related to experiments.
- Providing training to new users on accelerator operation and safety protocols.
- Overseeing administrative tasks related to the accelerator, such as IT needs, scheduling, billing, and inventory management.
- Coordinating with other members of the LAC team and users to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintaining records of accelerator usage and experimental results.
The Accelerator Technical Manager is encouraged to participate in developing and proposing new research projects at LAC.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Science or Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Ion Beam Technology and Analysis and/or Pelletron Accelerators
- Experience with instrumentation, measurements, maintenance, and repairs in the fields of electrical, electronic, mechanical, vacuum, and radiation equipment
