PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Career and Technical Education Supervisor is directly responsible to the Director of Career and
Technical Education with the responsibility to keep the respective Principals of the schools
informed. The Career and Technical Education Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the
Career and Technical Education program staff and assisting in the formulation and administration of
a comprehensive program of career and technical education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
TEA certification requirements
Supervisor’s Certificate or Principal’s Certificate Appropriate experience in school management
Three years of successful teaching experience required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Investigate and report on funding opportunities available for such programs and assist in
obtaining each fund.
• Continuously appraise and evaluate the total career and technical education programs to achieve
the established goals of providing the opportunity for students to prepare for gainful employment.
• Work with the respective principals in implementing the Teacher Evaluation and Support System
(T-TESS).
• Work with and assist the school or program counselors in their guidance, testing, and
identification of students for participation in the programs offered.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of all career and technical education related materials and
equipment.
• Plan and recommend purchases of needed materials and equipment; maintain current knowledge of
all pertinent rules and regulations affecting career and technical education and prepare or
supervise all reports required by the state education agencies.
• Serve as liaison between the public schools and the local employment community.
• Arrange and direct in-service education for the staff.
Management:
• Help teachers incorporate career & technical educational information into existing
curriculum.
• Provide guidance to teachers to develop career awareness and implementation of Achieve
Texas.
• Address teachers about their concerns.
• Plan advisory meetings to further enhance the career & technical educational program.
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, record, and other documents required.
Administration:
• Comply with policies established by federal & state law, State Board of Education rule, and
board policy in career & technical education.
• Comply with all district regulations.
• Maintain a positive and effective relationship with all school personnel.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
Professional:
• Participate in professional development related to job assignment.
• Assess the current labor market of the community and state.
• Serve as liaison between the high schools and the local colleges to promote dual-enrollment and
other higher educational opportunities.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
• Supervise extended summer school programs directly related to the career & technical education
department.
• Supervise internships, job-shadowing, and/or on-the-job training opportunities for career and
technical education students.
• Supervise assigned teachers, teacher aide(s), and clerical employee(s).
