    Per diem authorized for those who qualify.
    Work Location is on-site in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Area TA-54 CH-TRU waste remediation project.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    A bachelor’s degree in related technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and professional-level experience.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)
    • Must have an understanding of work hazards, safety practices, and operating configurations.
    • Experience working in a team environment with a strong safety culture.
    • Work experience in a quality-oriented environment requiring a high degree of attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of the use of personal computers including database applications.
    • Ability to qualify in the use of personnel protective equipment including air purifying respirators.
    • Must be willing to work a variety of shifts (i.e., 8-hour days, 9-hour days, or 10-hour days (not to exceed 80 hours in a 2-week time period)
    • Must have the ability to pass and maintain all qualifications as required by the Department of Energy (DOE) Order 426.2, and N3B
    • Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, work/interact effectively and amicably with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures)
    • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
    • Moderate knowledge of and experience with facility maintenance and/or construction management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations.
    • Moderate knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to all trades.
    • Moderate understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
    • Moderate knowledge of government and industry regulations affecting facility maintenance.
    • Demonstrated experience and skill with labor relations to include bargaining unit employees.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking job activities.
    • Moderate knowledge of facility maintenance policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting the maintenance programs.
    • Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.

    Advanced Skills desired skills but not required:
    5 years in Hoisting and Rigging and or Crane Operations

    DUTIES
    • Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
    • Directs the sequence of work for multi-discipline, bargaining unit, craft workers, operating within assigned areas. This work will typically consist of Preventative Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and Modifications (MD), primarily low to moderate hazard, with various range of complexity, with assignment determined by manager. Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) knowledge and experience must be minimal to moderate in this role.
    • Provide leadership for the safety and accident prevention programs for assigned areas or projects, which includes Conducting safety topics/discussions for weekly safety meetings, monitoring subcontractor safety briefings, inspecting worksite for unsafe conditions and practices and taking appropriated corrective actions.
    • Ensure facility maintenance operations continuously adhere to engineering designs, engineering document control, specifications, quality standards, schedules, and budgets. Work closely with System Engineers, Maintenance Managers, Managers, as appropriate, when necessary to raise issues or concerns regarding the aforementioned and arrive at expeditious solution(s).
    • Responsible for facility maintenance within a Category II Nuclear Facility, Non-Nuclear Facility, or both, including subcontractors.
    • Responsible for resource sequencing and ensuring those assigned are composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel by reviewing their training plan.
    • Establish, coordinate, and implement maintenance schedules that encompass resources, material and equipment requirements/availability. Schedule core craft by coordinating with the schedulers ahead of time. Track costs to meet formal estimated jobs, report changes, and maintain appropriated budgets.
    • Implement and enforce policies, procedures and related work rules as established by maintenance.
    • Ensure strict adherence to federal and state rules, regulations, and safety codes.
    • Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulations and collective bargaining agreements specific to facility maintenance and/or construction.
    • Support the investigation of events to identify the root cause and assist in implementing appropriate corrective actions. Initiate the investigation of abnormal events, incidents, and/or accidents to identify the root cause and assist in implementing appropriate corrective actions.
    • May provide counsel, advice, and assistance to management on matters dealing with Labor Relations, Department of Energy (DOE) contract compliance, and/or Laboratory policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
    • Ensures daily open communication with workers that promotes an environment where workers feel comfortable bringing errors, mistakes, system weaknesses and issues to your attention.
    • Ensures that all workers have completed the requisite training in safety and security.
    • Clearly communicates expectations in the areas of safety and security.
