DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and create audit reports on user and system activities.
Recommend security measures to reduce and mitigate risk.
Actively probe the network for new threats and risks.
Evaluate Internet security alerts for possible application to any District information system.
Working closely with networking and applications staff to deploy, manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software.
Working closely with networking and applications staff to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information residing in corporate databases, workstations, servers, and other systems.
Create and deliver the necessary training materials and classes for internal users, software developers, and system administrators.
Provide information and recommendations for the development of District Security policies.
Participate in the planning and implementation of disaster recovery plans.
Evaluate and recommend security applications and systems.
Review and monitor logs kept by computer and network access control systems to detect attempts at unauthorized use, update evidentiary records per procedures, and appropriately informs and escalates matters for resolution.
Competently develops (e.g. scripting) and uses automated mechanisms to help streamline the analysis of security related activities to discover patterns and evidence of problems.
Preserve all records indicating changes made to access control lists to facilitate investigations, disciplinary actions, and prosecutions as required.
Must satisfy any existing and future District security clearance or background check requirements for position duties
Comply with all District rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
All levels of the IT Security Analyst series are required to provide 24/7 support as assigned.
