Job purpose
The Technology Manager will plan, coordinate, direct, and execute all operational activities of the IT department, as well as provide direction and support for all existing and new technology solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations across all Meier Supply locations. They will manage the day-to-day IT support, projects, and activities throughout the company as well as provide input for technology solutions that enhance business operations. The Technology Manager will be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to all members of the department as well as fostering teamwork and a positive work culture within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage all aspects of IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, career development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
· Prioritize departmental tasks, projects, and initiatives and adhering to their specified deadlines.
· Lead IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and the allocation of resources.
· Analyzes complex business needs presented by internal and external customers and recommends technical solutions.
· Recommends and plans information technology to support and meet company objectives based on research and evaluation.
· Oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development and support of all hardware and software based on company needs.
· Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
· Participates in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts and service agreements including Managed Service Provider partner.
· Responsible for managing internal Help Desk ticketing system and be accountable for producing satisfactory resolutions to all tickets and ensuring users are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and exceptional customer service.
· Responsible for maintenance of VOIP phones across all locations.
· Has primary responsibility for management, maintenance, and upgrades of Epicor Prophet 21 ERP system.
· Expected to become a Subject Matter Expert in Epicor Prophet 21 ERP system.
· Oversee all existing and future custom reports across all platforms (SQL, Crystal, Phocas, etc.).
· Responsible for leading all IT tasks related to new locations, moving locations, and acquisitions.
· Conduct regularly scheduled IT department staff meetings.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Working conditions
· This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
· Be available outside of normal business hours as first point of contact for IT related emergencies and urgent matters via cell phone.
· After-hours work as required to avoid disruption to the business.
· Occasional travel to branch locations, industry meetings, conferences, etc.
· After completing 90 days of employment, hybrid remote work schedule is an option
Direct reports
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Salary: Starting at $90,000/annually
Requirements
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science or related field plus 6 years of experience within information technology and 2 years of managing others.
· Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
· Strategy and planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 12–24-month time span.
· Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
· Able to effectively delegate tasks and manage workload for junior staff.
· Proven experience as a Technology Manager or similar role, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
· Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
· Employee training and development.
· Strong customer orientation.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Demonstrated experience leading high-performance teams and being a strong team player.
· Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry.
· Experience administrating ERP systems preferred.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Physical requirements
Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Also, must be able to regularly lift IT equipment such as monitors and printers up to 50 pounds. Equipment that is greater than 50 pounds, must safely involve others to help move and set up office workstations, etc.
