Telecommunications Manager

  • APSi has an opening for an experienced Telecommunications Manager to help grow the Dallas Market.

    The ideal candidate must have past performance expertise with the following areas:

    Managing telecommunications projects in the Dallas Fort Worth market. Oversee the Dallas Operation, Lead and develop internal personnel, Engage with customers & end-users, oversee local and regional teams, identify and provide estimates for bid opportunities, solve problems, and provide detail reports of progress. Communicates (via meetings and daily reports) productivity and updates on pipeline and current projects. Interfaces with internal and external leadership teams and works closely with other office managers, stakeholders and field personnel.

    MUST be a strong leader with excellent communications skills to navigate challenges, think out of the box and lead personnel in a growing environment. MUST also be willing to go in the field and provide services, training, and/or support crews when necessary. In other words, this opportunity is NOT a desk job!

    Essential Duties Include:

    Managing daily activities of installation crews, contractors, and field staff working daily projects for low voltage, fiber installations, Inside Plant (ISP) customer installs. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with leadership experience managing internal and external personnel. Must be able to manage multiple personalities, skill levels and willing to work in the field when needed. Candidates must be open minded and willing to be flexible in a growing environment. Travel throughout the state and can perform tasks outside the office.

    • 10 years of experience in the Telecommunications/Structured Cabling/Low Voltage/Broadband industry.
    • Ability to lift at least 50lbs and able to physically walk several miles for bid walks as needed.
    • Strong background in telecommunication standards, operations, and scheduling personnel.
    • Can conduct bid estimations for commercial and government projects. Must have experience that can be verified.
    • Strong conflict resolution skills to communicate between the customer, personnel, contractors and subcontractors on the project site.
    • Meet with clients daily via phone, in person or on the job site.
    • Will conduct field duties when not in the office as part of the team. Must be a team player.
    • Manage logistics in the warehouse to ensure proper inventory of materials assigned to each project.
    • Meets with client management teams to provide updates on project goals, timelines, challenges, and bid opportunities.
    • Meets with company Stakeholders weekly to provide updates on project, progress, and client status.
    • Works with other PM's, Managers and Leads in the company to establish goals for the market.
    • Must be willing and able to travel. Regional and Statewide travel is a critical part of success for the ideal candidate.
    • Will conduct surveys, site walks, audits for internal and external projects.
    • Will utilize various software and technology for redline drawings, designs and support documents for invoicing.
    • Will be responsible for project budgets and work closely with the executive team to procure materials and equipment.
    • Will conduct training for new personnel and contractors as needed.
    • Will give professional presentations to internal executives and executive clients in person and via Zoom and Teams.

    Additional Management Requirements

    • Responsible for daily, weekly and quarterly reports
    • Great planner and ability to develop strategies for projects
    • Understand project deliverables and review scope of work and determine best approach
    • Assist with closing new opportunities
    • Provide support for invoicing needs from CFO on projects
    • Compile and organize documentation for project presentations
    • Able to read blueprints
    • Skilled in obtaining project quotes from distributors
    • Work closely as a team with other personnel in the market
    • Maintain project status through reports and tracking tools
    • Schedule daily production for technicians, contractors, and subcontractors
    • Work closely with other divisions and departments locally and in other markets

    Education:

    • Minimum of eight years in telecommunications field experience.
    • Or Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
    • Military background may substitute for college degree. (verifiable military leadership experience)

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years in leadership, management, supervisory role required in telecommunications/low voltage/broadband managing crews and teams.
    • At least 8 years of field experience commercial/government.
    • Bid estimation experience for telecommunications/low voltage/broadband.
    • Experience managing fiber construction projects including installation, testing, turnup, splicing etc.

    • telecom field management: 6 years (Required)
    • telecom site or project bid estimation: 5 years (Required)
    • DAS and/or Security Installation: 2 years (Preferred)

    License/Certification:

    • Drivers License (Required)
    • Project Management training or certification? (Preferred)

    Willingness to travel:

    • 25% (Required)
