Telecommunications Director is responsible for the strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems. Develops policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Director plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Director trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Telecommunications Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Hunter Communications is searching for a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team.  This is an amazing opportunity to join a well-established, rapidly growing company that fosters career opportunities. 


    Specific duties include but not limited to:

    • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
    • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
    • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
    • Assist in potholing and remediation
    • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins
    • Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates.
    • Perform heavy manual labor, able to lift 70 lbs. on occasion
    • Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
    • Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.
    • Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
    • Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
    • Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
    • Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
    • Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.
    • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

    Requirements

     

    • Possession of a valid Class A driver’s license – other candidates may be considered (especially CDL permit holders or Class B holders). This position is subject to the U.S. D.O.T. and Federal Highway Administration regulations relating to controlled substance and alcohol use and testing)
    • Demonstrated experience in utility construction.
    • Read and interpret underground construction plans and written instructions.
    • Ability to think ahead and use independent judgment.
    • Must live or be willing to relocate to within 35 minutes of the office.
    • Clean driving record.
