The Leidos Technology and Digital Transformation Solutions Business Area is seeking a full-time Senior Telecom Design Engineer our San Diego based utility telecom and networking team who can provide immediate impact on our backlog of design efforts.

Location: This position supports teleworking with candidates that are located near the San Diego area.

The Challenge:

• Participate as a member of our design team for a new utility control center. 
• Develop design drawings in Visio, BlueBeam, MicroStation or AutoCAD
• Write product/project specifications and descriptions for SONET and MPLS packet transport systems, channel banks and serial and voice circuit connections
• Develop cabling and patching – fiber and copper - details for circuit interconnections
• Support the development of bills of material for telecom systems 
• Develop test and migration approaches for new systems
• Support interconnection and layout of transport connections to routed networks including Cisco routers and switches
• Develop IP addressing and routing schemes
• Perform traffic analyses and size the network accordingly
• Design fiber interconnections between external sites and internal transport and routed network equipment
• Participate in peer reviews and customer meetings include developing and presenting technical design materials. Familiarity with ProjectWise is desirable.

What Sets You Apart: (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline with twelve plus (12 ) years of relevant experience. May consider more years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• US citizen required and the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance/Background check.

You Might Also Have: (Preferred Qualifications)

. 

• Experience with SONET and MPLS packet transport systems including one of the following platforms - Nokia, Cisco, and SEL ICON platforms.
• Experience with Nokia 7705 SAR and/or SEL ICON for use as channel bank platform.  Experience in use of DS1 Jackfields and standard fiber and copper patch panels.
• Certification in IP routing and switching is a plus.
•  Knowledge and experience with telecom test equipment such as line testers, BER test sets, OTDRs, protocol analyzers, and Wireshark network monitor tool.
