Telecommunications Engineering Technician assists telecommunication engineers in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks. Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, or other telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Engineering Technician ensures network connectivity for end-users. May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance. Additionally, Telecommunications Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Telecommunications Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Provide end-user client training as needed. Experience with networking including routers, switches, and configuring wireless networks ideal. Can read CAD-generated prints, building blueprints, and riser diagrams. Must have excellent communication skills and possess excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to do advanced troubleshooting on any device Must be able to read and write at basic English proficiency. The ability to perform basic math functions. The ability to lift 50-75 lbs., climb, crawl, and raise items overhead. The ability to climb in ladders. Installation experience of 2 to 5 years in AV or related industry. Knowledge in videoconferencing platforms (Cisco, Polycom, Zoom, MS Teams..etc.) Knowledge in construction basics (Commercial). Driver licences required. Employee must have a car (Truck) to bring equipment on installation site when required. All required certification to work in a construction site in Alberta.
