POSITION: Electrical Technician (Electrician) LOCATION: Carboline, Lake Charles I. SUMMARY OF POSITION: · Responsible for the mechanical reliability of plant manufacturing systems to ensure that production operates in an environment conducive to maximum efficiency while ensuring employee safety and protection of company assets. This will be accomplished through effective troubleshooting, repair, and maintaining of machinery and mechanical / electrical equipment to include motors, conveyor systems, control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, production machines, boilers, chillers, pumps, liquid fillers, packaging equipment, material handling equipment, bulk delivery equipment, and blending/mixing systems. II. RESPONSIBILITIES: Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments as needed. • Replaces defective parts by dismantling and reassembling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining condition of parts. • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, power tools, and the like. • Controls downtime by performing and documenting routine preventive maintenance; monitoring operational compliance. • Utilize blueprints, plans, electrical drawing and code specifications to complete job tasks, repair machinery and set machines to specification. • Troubleshoot, testing. and repair of manufacturing equipment which can include various electrical, mechanical, and control systems to ensure that they are working properly. • Run tests, isolation of problems, replacing worn or malfunctioning parts. • Perform upgrades or preventive maintenance to electrical control systems. • Inspect, test, repair, and install systems or equipment correctly to assure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. • Recommends actions to improve maintenance activities and operations. • Building and plumbing repair/maintenance activities as required. • May be required to retrofit equipment with controls needed to improve the efficiency and performance of the devices. • Will comply with all safety policies and procedures. • Assist in other areas and perform other duties as assigned. III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Must have a minimum of 5 years Plant Maintenance Technician experience (required) · Associates Degree from a technical school or have completed a recognized apprenticeship program is preferred. IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS: Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with CMMS systems In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, VFD's, and industrial control systems. Working knowledge of Class I, Div. I and Div. II electrical classifications and equipment
