Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, or other telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Engineering Technician ensures network connectivity for end-users. May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance. Additionally, Telecommunications Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Telecommunications Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Summary
    We are seeking a Telecommunications Technician to join our team! As a Telecommunications Technician, you will be installing new telecommunications systems, repairing existing telecommunications systems, and upgrading outdated equipment and systems. You will also be troubleshooting systems that are having trouble, running diagnostic tests, ordering replacement components, and ensuring every system you touch is working properly. The ideal candidate has experience with telecommunications equipment, excellent communication skills, and enjoys problem-solving complex issues. This position involves installing cable infrastructure for Commercial customers and is a labor position using ladders and man lifts. Scissor and Boom lift certifications are a plus. Position entails travel through Virginia and North Carolina with further distances a possibility. Most travel is during work week and home most weekends.

    Responsibilities
    • Install new telecommunications cabling (CAT-6/Fiber Optics) for customers
    • Troubleshoot existing infrastructure that isn’t working, run diagnostic tests, and fix any problems that arise
    • Upgrade outdated equipment
    • Walk the customer through any new or updated equipment to ensure everyone knows how to use it properly
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by always wearing proper PPE and following safety procedures
    Qualifications
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Previous experience with telecommunications equipment desired
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
    • Must be comfortable working on your feet, in tight spaces, and a variety of weather conditions
