Telecommunications Engineering Technician assists telecommunication engineers in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks. Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, or other telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Engineering Technician ensures network connectivity for end-users. May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance. Additionally, Telecommunications Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Telecommunications Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to perform cable drops and terminate category cable using T-568 RJ45 modular pinout. The work site location will vary based on the location of the install or repair. Technician should have general knowledge of simple hand tools and power tools. Experience using ladders and working safely on them is preferred. Candidates that are not prepared to pass a drug test should not apply. Knowledge of telecommunications equipment, especially data network systems will be given priority.
