Being a Telecommunications Engineering Technician ensures network connectivity for end-users. May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance. Additionally, Telecommunications Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Telecommunications Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     STARTING BI-WEEKLY SALARY: $1,805 - $2,168 Grade 9 Non-Exempt

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: With minimal supervision, the individual filling this position will provide technical

    work for subdivision construction, commercial projects, and City projects; this work includes but is not limited to: field
    inspections, documenting project progression and completion; must be capable of working independently; be able to perform
    onsite inspections; utilize office software to document and track projects and building permits; and be able to read and analyze
    asphalt testing reports, lab reports, inspection reports, etc., ensuring conformance to City standards and specifications. The
    position includes a combination of office and field-related duties.


    Inspection and Field duties:

    • Perform field inspections for subdivision construction and commercial projects to ensure projects are being
    constructed in accordance with approved plans and City standards and specifications.
    • Coordinate final walk-throughs with other City departments to ensure the projects are complete and ready for final
    acceptance.
    • Perform various field inspections for right-of-way permits & sidewalk grant applications to ensure that projects are
    being constructed in accordance with City standards and specifications.
    • Work cooperatively with contractors and industry partners toward successful completion of projects.

    Officer & Other duties:
    • Communicate and coordinate work with internal and external customers to ensure a high level of cooperation, teamwork,

    and service delivery.
    • Review plans prior to site visits for subdivision construction & commercial projects; complete correction notices,
    inspection logs, and other documentation as directed.
    • Review inspection & testing reports for subdivision construction & commercial projects, document & track progress of
    projects.
    • Provide accurate record keeping and detailed documentation of projects.
    • Follow processes while working on ways to review, refine and improve processes and procedures.
    • Attend meetings for subdivision and commercial project review.
    • Approve qualifying sidewalk grant applications and communicate with customers and contractors throughout entire

    application and construction process.

    QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma; valid driver’s license; two years of work experience in either inspection,
    construction, testing; or any equivalent combination of technical experience or related skills which provides the knowledge and
    abilities necessary to perform the work; must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate complex technical
    information, orally and in writing; must have computer and software skills; must be able to work independently and have the
    ability to make decisions using common sense; must be detail oriented; must be able to establish good working relationships
    and have excellent customer service skills; must demonstrate the City core values of Integrity, Honesty, Teamwork,
    Commitment and Connection.


    The following are preferred but not required: A two (2) year college degree in Engineering or a related technical field, Western
    Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) Asphalt 1 certification.
