Telecommunications Manager jobs in Grand Rapids, MI

Telecommunications Manager manages an organization's telecommunication systems to ensure optimal network performance. Implements and enforces policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Manager plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Manager trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Telecommunications Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Pre-Construction Surveyor

    Requirements 

    • Gather all required route measurements and general field data required. 
    • Provides written documentation of all gathered field data and completes site surveys and field reports to field coordinator. 
    • Researches public ROW records to ensure the proposed path will comply with municipal ordinances and permit agency requirements. 
    • Ability to review and sketch detailed drawings and photographs. 
    • Obtain, record, and document all details for aerial and underground telecommunications including fiber cable, coax cable, poles, and pedestals. 
    • Perform and conduct surveys for new build of fiber/coax cable within interior/exterior routing.  
    • May be required to attend meetings to share information with customers or municipality representatives. 
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

      

    Qualifications 

    • Able to read and understand maps and blueprints. 
    • Basic Microsoft Office computer skills. 
    • Knowledge of Coax and Fiber systems. 
    • Working knowledge of survey fundamentals for
      telecommunications. 
    • Able to work outside in all types of weather. 
    • Capable of providing high productivity and quality
      workmanship while remaining detail oriented. 
    • Adept at fully understanding and following advanced oral and written instructions. 
    • Exercise competent judgment and initiative in executing responsibilities 
    • Display exceptional planning and organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize. 
    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent 
    • Able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen 
    • Maintain a valid driver’s license 
    • Willing to work overtime when required, willing to travel and work in all-weather conditions.
