Telecommunications Manager manages an organization's telecommunication systems to ensure optimal network performance. Implements and enforces policies and procedures for installing and maintaining telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Manager plans and manages complex installation or repair projects. Assesses current and future telecommunications needs and researches and plans improvements to meet those requirements. Additionally, Telecommunications Manager trains and develops staff. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Telecommunications Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Telecommunications Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:       

     

    Manages Procurement Department insuring efficient inventory levels and turns, while reducing slow and obsolete products by performing the following duties:

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Maintains vendor relationships to assure quality materials are delivered timely and at a competitive price.
    • Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, acknowledgments, costs, delivery, product quality, performance and inventories.
    • Supervises Purchasing Admin Supervisor and Purchasing Supervisor; works closely with Contract Management to increase inventory turns and maintaining efficient stocking levels on hand.
    • Reduces slow-moving stock.
    • Reduces obsolete stock.
    • Manages Returns to Vendor.
    • Manages the purchase of items from a limited number of vendors.
    • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Supervises Purchasing Admin Supervisor and Purchasing Supervisor and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. 

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Four-year college degree or equivalent; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the Company.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to add and subtract 10-digit numbers, to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    • No major critical thinking required.  Work follows established job aids and business rules.  Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
