Telecommunications Technician maintains an organization's telecommunications network to ensure dependable operation. Monitors network systems and performs diagnostic tests to document and report performance levels. Being a Telecommunications Technician conducts routine checks and preventative maintenance to minimize malfunctions and downtime. Troubleshoots telecommunication issues and performs or coordinates repairs. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Telecommunications Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Aerial Construction Telecom Line Technician

  • The Telecom Line Tech works in an outside plant environment placing, rearranging and removing poles, pulling, lashing and stranding. As an aerial line tech, you’ll install lines and cables (including fiber) using various construction equipment.

    Responsibility

    • Properly climb poles with the ability to safely use gaffs and ladders
    • Operate construction equipment
    • Operate hydraulic aerial lifts and ladders mounted to trucks
    • Install poles and place wires or cables
    • Place aerial coax copper and fiber cable
    • String and maintain wire (Pulling, Lashing, Stranding )
    • Understanding of separation and clearance regulations
    • Utilize standard telecommunications tools
    • Access various installation points
    • Access construction points as required
    • Read and interpret engineering plans
    • Keep a detailed record of work activity

    Requirements

    • 2-3 years of aerial line tech, telecommunications experience preferred
    • Properly climb poles with the ability to safely use gaffs and ladders
    • Candidate should be able to perform all duties in telecom pole line construction
    • Proficient in new build, coax & fiber installation and pole transfers
    • Operate construction equipment and machinery
    • Interpret engineering work plans
    • Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
    • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
    • Must be able to carry 75-80 lbs., to include an extension ladder.
    • Must be able to work at heights of 20 ’ feet
    • Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout the work shift
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • CDL Driver License is a PLUS
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
