Telecommunications Technician maintains an organization's telecommunications network to ensure dependable operation. Monitors network systems and performs diagnostic tests to document and report performance levels. Being a Telecommunications Technician conducts routine checks and preventative maintenance to minimize malfunctions and downtime. Troubleshoots telecommunication issues and performs or coordinates repairs. Additionally, Telecommunications Technician may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Telecommunications Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Description
Repairs and maintains BRT’s tractor and trailer fleet. Requires formal training in area of specialty with 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. May be required to meet certain certifications in field. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks concentrating on maintenance of BRT, Inc. owned equipment. May require availability during other than traditional work hours.
Requirements
Level One Technician
Class A-CDL required
Class 3 or 7 Pennsylvania Inspection license required
5 years’ experience or more working on class 8 trucks
Must be able to acquire a HAZ-MAT with tanker endorsement
Certified DOT Tank Inspector
Part of on-call rotation
Level Two Technician
Class A-CDL required with Hazmat
Class 3 or 7 Pennsylvania Inspection license required
3 years’ experience or more working on class 8 trucks
Must be able to acquire a HAZ-MAT with tanker endorsement
Part of on-call rotation
Level Three Technician
Automotive school graduate
2 years’ experience or more working on class 8 trucks
No CDL or PA inspection license
Clean driving record and able to acquire CDL and PA inspection license
Part of on-call rotation
Level Four Technician
Entry level technician
Recent graduate from automotive school but not required
Clean driving record and able to acquire CDL and PA inspection license
Does not join the on-call rotation
Tools not required
Commercial truck tire repairs and changes
Vehicle washing and interior detailing
Hose Testing
General shop maintenance
Physical Demands:
• Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required.
• Lifting of objects up to 100 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment:
• Safety Glasses, gloves, and outer garments required while performing certain tasks.
Work Environment:
• Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments, and shop environments.
• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise.
